「 dancing away 5:28 PM 」

Torture. That was the word to best describe for the past two weeks. Looking at your friends completed writing for the final exams yet myself still waiting for the FIRST paper is real torture! Plus it does feel like I’m in holiday week since I’m staying at home almost everyday in preparation for the exams. The common and over use word was STUDY. Woke up in the morning, study. After dinner, study. Past midnight, study. Exams are at least over for me. There’ll be no more exams to sit. No midterms. No quizzes. No passing my student ID to obtain a colourful sheet of exam token.

We always said that time do pass by fast. It was FAST! And this brings me back to a day in secondary school. It was that day that I obtained my SPM result.

My 30’s (I guess so) History teacher that taught me for almost three years strikes up a conversation with me,

(Her name was Ms Lee)

Ms Lee: So, Simon. Sekarang nak buat apa? Belajar apa?
Me: *casually without hesitation and confidently* A-Level. Lepas tu, study Biotechnology.
Ms Lee: Oooh. Ok.

Most of my school mates at that time went for Form 6. Form 6 was not in my frame of mind at that time. All I could relate Form 6 was hard and tough. Plus I’m not planning to enter public university after all. I met a secondary school of mine and he asked me “What are you studying now?” (Most common question when you met old friend isn’t it?). I replied to him A-Level. To his surprise, he told me that he expected me to enter Form 6 since I’m that type according to him. What type he meant? I’l let you decide lar k? (:

One and half year past for A-level. Another major decision to make, to choose my major degree. Biotechnology was my choice of option for my degree at that time. However, I was torn in between Pharmacy and Biotechnology. Pharmacy was popular at that time (two years back) and couple of my A-level mates went for it. My dad advised me to take up pharmacy for a better future purpose. Yet I’m insisting on Biotechnology. I declined Pharmacy because I was NOT that type. Not the type of clever and genius A-student, not the type that will face the books 24-7. I can’t. I will be a dead fish I was to do that.

Fast forward to my third year degree studies. 2007 and 2008, basically studies all the time. 2009 was more ‘busy’ as compared the year before. More activities that I joined in, more events that I’m involved in organising, trips that were unforgettable.

Well, it’s already September 09’!!
